Big excitement of today was that the kids each had a birthday party to attend today. This morning was spent procuring gifts at our favorite Big Box Retailer, Target. Daniel went to his party late this morning for a preschool classmate of his, held at the ever-popular Gymnastics Plus. The kids enjoyed cake and snacks after burning off tons of energy running around.
While Daniel partied, Annika went to the final booth sale of her Girl Scout Troop. They were at Wal-Mart in January. Shockingly, the biggest surprise was that all of the girls were hot - it was 64 degrees and they were standing in direct sun. I broke down and bought all of the girls drinks about halfway through since everyone was so hot. Annika survived her two-hour shift intact, though.
After Daniel ended his birthday party adventure, another adventure began - a playdate with his "very best friend Collin." Collin's mom posted this picture on Facebook and I think it is absolutely adorable!!
Meanwhile, Will began his own adventure this afternoon - helping our friends dig holes for their new zipline. It sounded so easy - using a power auger to dill four, 4-foot holes - surely that should only take minutes, right?! Alas, while the first 12 inches of topsoil are easy, when the ground turns into clay it is like drilling into cement. The guys ended up working for almost 5 hours and still aren't finished.
I love this picture - our friend Tammy got the kids to smile super big by asking them to make their "roller coaster faces!".
Dinner was waiting for us in the crockpot tonight - lumberjack stew! With no meat and no potatoes - only vegetables and more vegetables. It was surprisingly tasty, though.
Our blog books that we ordered from Blog2Press showed up! I love looking through them and am really happy with how they turned out. I have also discovered many typos in my original posts but it captures the authenticity of the entries.
And finally, it wouldn't be Saturday night without Game Night at the Thorntons. Tonight we tried out Huggermugger, which we got from our friends the Sanders before they departed for Luxembourg Their warning that families could erupt into debates on Slant Rhymes provided surprisingly accurate. :)
