On Wednesday morning, we woke up early so that we could leave camp at the crack of dawn. We also discovered that it is much easier to leave early before everyone is fully awake rather than trying to leave later in the day when everyone has already had more of their day (and is hence crankier). We left on the drive at 6:15 a.m. Mountain Time and arrived around 5:15 p.m. Central Time, so about a 10-hour drive. Not bad considering that we stopped several times for breakfast, lunch, etc., and hit Denver morning traffic.
The beginning part of our drive was just gorgeous. (We will leave out descriptions of the portion with Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas. ;) )
The kids here, zoned on their first TV after being TV-deprived for 5 days. (Despite this picture, they really did play well together and spent most of their time NOT watching TV on the way back.)
And the biggest surprise at all when we returned was our patio! We are super excited by the excellent progress and are looking forward to hosting people.
