Snow Day!

On Thursday of this week we had a first for the year....the kids had their first snow day! There was a nice layer of ice under the first snow of the year, which made driving interesting. I am not sure how much snow we got since it was blowing around so much. It was hard to read a lot of the street signs since snow had blown up against them!

While I was at work in the morning, Will took the kids to go sledding at our neighborhood elementary school. They had a blast! Here is a video of Daniel sledding down the hill, solo.

There was still a decent amount of snow and ice left today (Saturday). We had a friend from church over to play this morning and the kids enjoyed "sledding" in the front yard and starting to build a snowman.

The snow day on Thursday meant that Friday was a super exciting day of school....the LAST day for TWO WEEKS for the holiday break! Woo hoo! Clearly, it was important that we celebrate this momentous occasion with a trip to IHOP for pancakes last night.

While we were at IHOP, an amazing thing happened. A complete stranger gave us a $20 bill on his way out and told us to buy something for the kids! Then when went to pay the bill, we had received a mysterious discount. Wow! We were blown away and are having fun thinking of all kinds of ways to pay it forward.
