September and October random pictures!
Will and I did the Speedy PD 5k race at the end of August. I had a blast running with my sweet friend Trysta.
Playdate with Daniel's classmates! Such sweet boys.
Lots of fun hikes out at one of our favorite place, the Konza Prairie.
Lunch with Daniel and his friends at Amanda Arnold! He seems to be really enjoying his new school.
Spotted this on the wall while we were there.
Daniel was the KISS (special person) during September. He got to bring in pictures for the board and talk about special items. His favorite part was receiving the giant Kiss with compliments from everyone in his class, which is now hanging in the closet in his room.
2nd grade music program in September! Daniel is in the middle, 2nd row up from the bottom, in a red shirt.
We headed to Hutchinson to check out the Kansas State Fair and see Annika's picture (of Sage and Daniel on the prairie) on display.
Best buds.
The kids vastly prefer carnival games to rides. They are so their father's children. ;)
Sky ride!
Annika's Sunday School class took a field trip to a nearby sunflower field.
Chilling with my nephew, Greg!
Both kids are taking tennis lessons for the first time this year. Annika has been the only person in her class and is getting all kinds of attention!
Strong Satellites 4-H Club! We have a young group. Annika is parliamentarian and Daniel is junior recreation leader.
We found a giant snake skin next to our pool.
Rescuing a drowning mouse from our pool.
Annika's assignment on display at school. Oh, Annika. ;)
Body First School Fitness Challenge!! Annika ran the mile and Daniel (and Alexis) ran the half mile. Great job, kids!
Hurried back to Manhattan for the Konquer the Konza 25K trail race! Kim and I survived and made the time cut-off, yay!
The whole CAUMC gang before the race. We were well represented!
Church pumpkin patch trip. Bunnies, kittens, and ducks, oh my!
Lunar Eclipse! Will took a picture with his iPhone of the view of our telescope.
Some better pictures of the fitness challenge race.
Annika fell down in the mud near the finish but was still cheery enough to wave to us at the end.
I had a rough few days at work and the kids and Will surprised me with flowers and chocolate. Yum!!
Crop Walk 5k for hunger relief! I am also the treasurer of this event and am all caught up on processing donations for the time being, knock on wood...
Our pool is officially closed for the season. :( It was worth every penny to have the pool company come out and do this.
Annika's 6th grade school picture - classic look.
The kids have been getting along really well recently. Again, knock on wood....
I went to Nashville for the ABO conference for a quick two-day trip.
Half and half tree.
We headed to DeSoto to celebrate Nonnie's 72nd birthday! So happy we could celebrate with her on this day!!
One of our activities...heading to KU in Lawrence to visit the Natural History Museum. The kids - especially Daniel - loved being on the KU campus...
Daniel's Halloween costume - an Enderman from Minecraft - is ready to go!
Playing basketball in the cul-de-sac. The kids have commented that they "really like living on a circle."
Freezer cooking!! The 5 of us made 40 meals in 3 hours. Thanks to Christine for all of the planning and shopping!
Annika's Halloween costume is complete - a dove! :)
Daniel's 2nd grade school pictures - the false library look. :)
Spotted this at the wall at conferences (Daniel with a classmate and book buddy). Good to know that he likes to dessert.
We've been having a ton of fun watching the Royals play in the post-season! It hasn't worked out to attend a game in person, but we had a blast last night watching the drama-filled (and ultimately successful!) Game 6 in the league championship.
And finally, the kids each had a friend spend the night this weekend, which was a blast all around. Annika had a birthday party for a classmate this afternoon, and Daniel and Will went to explore "new parks." They ended up at Bluemont Elementary, which has a great playground.
