Hellooooo! My super anti-picture son asked me last night, "Mom, why has it been a long time since you have written your blog??" And I realized that in terms of family pictures and updates, it has been since our trip to Orlando and Atlanta at the beginning of August since I have posted anything. Yikes! So here is a random dump of pictures on my phone showing what our family has been up to the last month.
Annika is getting TALL! This girl is almost 5 feet tall and nothing fits her. After purging out clothes that no longer fit, she had exactly one long-sleeved shift left.
We are now shoe buddies....we both wear an 8.5 in athletic shoes. Holy.Cow.
This is so long ago that I am not 100% sure where it is at. I think it was at McAlister's? After church? I know that it was with Emma! We love our new tradition of going out to eat after church on Sunday with church friends.
Bike parade in children's church!
The day before school started (a Monday), we had "Camp Hageman" at our house. There are 15 kids in this picture and we had 20 total by the afternoon. So much fun!!
Annika and Daniel love their teachers this year! Annika's teacher has a Super Hero theme for the room and she relates to the 5th graders very well. Daniel has our beloved Mrs. Swensen, whom Annika also had and we adore.
Back to School Breakfast on the first day of school at Melendra and Joe's new house!
Bryn and Brynn!
Kids with the requisite first day of school picture. They really were excited to start school - just not necessarily to have their picture taken.
Sage, Annika, and Ella - excited to all be in the same class together! Rachael unfortunately is in a different class this year but we love still getting to see her every morning.
Bike ride to Purple Swirl after the first day of school.
I have started wearing a bike helmet as well, after receiving much grief from our children about being the only helmet-less person in the family.
John Michael Montgomery came to the Wareham in August!
Cathlene, Christine, me, and Jen.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen! It was a little depressing thinking about that but still lots of fun and good times.
Amy, Jenny, and I have been training to run the C. Clyde race (this past Saturday) and to walk the 25k trail race at the Konza (in two days, yikes!) Long walks in the early morning mean that Amy buys lots of Varsity donuts for all of the kids so the dads can contain the children while the moms are out walking.
My parents in the Little Apple....taking them to Sonic for the first time.
Church on Promotion Sunday (or maybe it was Back to School Sunday?) with Miss Jenny.
Tags for backpacks! Our kids have them on and it makes me smile.
Love this note and Sunday School teachers who understand our boy.
Safety first.
4-H Strong Satellites club meeting....Cloverbuds (5 and 6 year olds) playing Red Rover. I think.
Annika and her friend Emma will be co-historians this year. Daniel is an official Cloverbud!
Super cute nephew Greg brought me a surprise delivery of homemade chocolate chip cookies when I was feeling down one day!
Annika's desk at school. Each letter had a theme. The second letter was supposed to have themes for the family. Dad was a bike, Daniel was Legoes, and mine was love. No hobbies, but love!
Our whole family did the Ice Bucket Challenge this month. We were very honored to donate in honor of Gene Schlabach, the wonderful late father of our dear friend Karen.
Daniel has joined Cub Scouts this year and is a Tiger Cub. We had decided that we are all going to do 4-H as a family but since this is the first activity D has ever actively begged to join, how could we say no?
Speedy PD race!! This is a great local race for the local program that helps people with Parkinson's Disease. Will and I ran the 5K as part of the CAUMC team, and the kids each did the one-half mile family fun run.
The Thorntons! Greg did the fun run, Julie did the 10K (and won), and Charlie was a great spectator!
Starting line for the Family Fun Run. D is in the bright orange shirt and is at the very front, because that's what kids do.
Annika and her great friend Emma finished arm in arm. Melts my heart!
Will was a great pacer for Daniel.
Daniel is getting better at swimming! We are doing swimming lessons starting in October and I think he will continue to make more progress.
Oh, now we have professional pictures of the race. Daniel finishing. Oh my gosh, I love that boy!!
Will! He beat his time here for last year, woo hoo!
Annika and sweet Emma.
Our awesome friend Abby (Emma's mom) rocked it!
Aunt Julie, tearing it up and rocking those awesome abs.
A bunny. Because why not?
Kids walk to school every day unless there is a sudden torrential downpour, and then everyone else drives to school, too.
D's first Cub Scout event - the Raingutter Regatta. He made and decorated a boat, with Will's help for the assembly.
Tiger Cubs = Chaos!!
Looking so grown up and proud in his Tiger Cub uniform.
The competition! You blew your boat down the gutter using a straw.
My birthday!! Will and the kids surprised me with presents and cake in the morning. A great day!
Over Labor Day weekend, we continued our tradition of going to Family Camp at Rock Springs Ranch. This time, we took Rachael, too, and shared a room with Aunt Julie, Uncle Charlie, and Greg!
The whole gang, minus Charlie (our photographer).
Greg and the Thorntons appreciated the very rustic nature of the cabins. ;)
Campfire, s'mores, and singing.
Playing games! We were thrilled to see that our Bergman friends the Andersons were here this year again, too.
Daniel took this picture of me in the morning. Oh my, don't I look attractive?
Horse back riding!!
Beautiful day on the ranch. So beautiful you could almost forgive it for being covered with ragweed.
The kids made a fort.
Swimming in the pool!
Lucky Uncle Charlie got to drag everyone around.
Archery! Both kids loved it.
Rifle Shooting! Will is really good at it - no wonder, seeing as Gramps was once on the K-State Rifle Team!
Canoeing!
Night swimming!
More games. I love camp and the chance to unwind and really decompress.
Breakfast on the last day....a whole plate of whipped cream - an idea that the staff encouraged.
GPS Scavenger Hunt Game! One of my favorite activities.
We made it back to Manahttan in time for one of our favorite Labor Day traditions - the Sunday Night Birthday celebrations among our church friends! Within a one-week period, we had a 34th, 35th (mine), 37th, 38th (Will's), and 44th birthday! So lucky to have such great friends to celebrate and share life with.
Game Night at Melendra and Joe's! The kids all ate first and then hung out while the adults got some serious game action going.
Lasers and Feelings. One of the ultimate goals was to create Laser Feelings.
The kids have been going to Cross Country Club this fall, which meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings at local parks. This was D's choice of physical activity and we decided that it would be Annika's too. ;) I must say that I love it. I would not say that the kids love it per se, but they don't actively hate it, love seeing their friends, and always seem to have a great time when we are actually there (as opposed to when it is time to go from BLAST to running club)....so I am calling it a WIN.
Will's birthday! Happy Birthday, babe! With my ninja-like photo skills, I can capture that Daniel does actually smile when he does not realize he is being photographed.
We went to see Buddy Guy perform at McCain on Will's birthday. It was over 3 hours long!! Very talented guitar player and Will loved him.
We visited the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson the next day. This exhibit cracked me up.
Funnel Cakes!!! My weakness.
Carnival Games!!! Will's weakness.
We found Annika's photograph of the Grand Canyon at the State Fair - she was thrilled to see that it earned a Blue Ribbon.
Gorgeous walk on Linear Trail.
Post-haircut selfie. Absolutely love Gaia Salon. As Will said, "Did they use Black Magic to somehow suck all of the volume out of your hair?"
I have been drinking coffee and hot chocolate. Lots and lots of drinking. The new coffee shop worker knew my name by the third day of classes.
C. Clyde 5k run, hosted by the College of Business and put on to benefit Shepherd's Crossing!
The CAUMC girls, minus our buddy Amber. So proud especially of Amy and Jenny for training the past 9 weeks to run the race, and for blowing their time goal out of the water!
Larry the Cable Guy. I only knew that he was "Very Famous," but he is also the voice of Mater and a famous comedian. I figured out quickly that he was not actually my cup of tea, but happy to have this world-broadening experience.
4-H club in September, with the Cloverbuds being honored.
Presenting some of the projects from the fair.
The Strong Satellites 4-H Club, ready for the 2014-2015 4-H year!! Our friend Emma (Heather's Emma, not Abby's Emma ;)) is president this year and she is going to do a great job - excited to see all that our club will do.
Bergman Elementary Dine Out at Freddy's. We love Bergman and we love to eat out, so it's a no brainer.
Daniel, writing his favorite words....both phonetically and correctly.
Our clarinet player!! 5th grade is when the kids can choose an instrument at school, and Annika selected clarinet. She seems to love it so far and has voluntarily been wanting to practice.
Daniel is getting closer and closer to learning how to ride his bike! He is just about ready to have his pedals put back on.
Whew! If you actually read it this far, you deserve a prize. We have been staying busy but having lots of fun - hope you are as well!
